Game Rules

Guess correctly to score points. Score the most points to win the game.

Scoring Points

There are three ways to score points:

  1. Correctly guess who won and lost, or if there was a draw, to earn 3 points.
  2. Correctly guess the number of goals by a single team to earn 2 points.
  3. Correctly guess the match scoreline to earn 10 points.

Scoring points during the knockout phase works exactly as described above with two differences:

  1. Players who correctly guess the group winners and runner-ups, and the teams to progress to the next phase, gain a 5-point bonus for each team in its correct slot.
  2. Those who guess the World Champion correctly gain a 10-point bonus.

Note that you can still earn points even if the teams you selected to progress are different from the actual teams competing in the knockout phase.

For example, you may have selected Mexico as the winner of Group A and Holland as the runner up of Group C; and you may have entered a guess of Mexico 1-2 Holland. Let us assume, for the purposes of this example, that the real match, match number 49, will be Brazil 1-2 Chile. You would still earn 10 points for guessing a 1-2 scoreline irrespective of the actual teams competing.

If you do guess the teams correctly you would gain an additional 10 points–5 points for each team.

Winning the Game

The winner is the player to have the most points at the end of the World Cup.

Tie-Breaks

  1. If two or more players are tied on points, the winner is the player to have guessed the most correct match scorelines.
  2. If two or more players are still tied, then the winner is the player to have guessed the most individual team scores.
  3. If there is still a tie, then the win is shared.
